The Moth, in specific the Luna Moth are animals that are attracted to the Moon's source of light. Spiritually, the Luna Moth symbolizes many things such as Rebirth, or "New Beginnings"; funny isn't it? How Gai seemingly is going to use this when Naruto, and Sasuke had just met Hagaromo, The Sage, and obtained blessings from The Sage:

The Reason for the symbolism of the Luna Moth being "A New Beginning" is the very fact that they strive the hardest in the Dark for the Light. Similar to how the Shinobi Alliance is helplessly lost fighting in the Dark (Madara), Gai will give them Light (The Night Moth):

In the end however, what will happen to Gai..?:

My Hypothesis acknowledges the fact that due to this being Gai's last appearance physically within the Naruto-Verse, I'd say Gai will transcend physically, and mentally; overall his power will increase drastically. But what of new traits/power will he acquire? My thoughts are:
A) Some sort of increased Wind-Potency Power. Power of the Whirlwind? (Not-likely)
B) Increased speed; to escape Darkness, one must be quick enough to touch the Light - (Probable)
C) Telepathy; Similar to the Yamanaka Clan due to the Moth's acute hearing - (Probable)
D) Metamorphosis/Transformation; Similar to the Akimichi Clan, once they eat the Red-Pill they sprout chakra-wings - (Probable)
