Okay so maybe I was a little bit hasty with not believing a damn thing the sage said.
Thank god Kishi pointed out exactly what the sage was doing, not time travel but existing as a ghost.
But with the sage speaking the names of the Biju/Biju acknowledging him I feel a lot more comfortable believing this is the real Sage.
Still leaves a whole lot left concerning plot holes, Sages brother, RDS etc.
I remember a long while back that someone theorized that in infinite tsukuyomi that the god tree would be keeping everyone alive in the genjutsu world by connecting them all with the roots.
Super kudos to whoever that was for getting it right.
