all obito's ever shown is basic sharingan genjutsu on par with kakashi's. He's no better than kakashi at genjutsu relying on the sharingan's inherent capabilities of hypnotism and control to perform his genjutsus. Also, those bijuu were controlled by a combination of rinngean paths and gedo chains, not genjutsu.

People like shishui, itachi, kabuto, all have better genjutsu feats.

Itachi stated that Shisui had the most powerful genjutsu, but that doesn't mean it's the best. I wouldn't consider it the best if it causes you to lose your MS for ten years, can only be used once, etc. If you waste it then you're screwed. That's why Shisui didn't find it ideal for combat. The only person to state that Shisui was the most powerful genjutsu USER was Bee, but Bee doesn't know a thing about Itachi or his abilities.

It's Itachi, he's the best genjutsu user and this isn't even a contest.

Shishui received the title of best genjutsu user when Itachi was a child. By the time Itachi became relevant, shishui and the clan was dead and Itachi was labelled psychopathic and evil. Giving him the title of best genjutsu user of the uchiha ?(Which he technically would be considering it was just him and Sasuke) would be pointless and a disrespect) .

When discussing what was happening, Both Ao and Shikaku , Intelligent ninjas who both know of Shishui, Ao actually having fought him before. Stated that Itachi is the only person they know of that is capable of such genjutsu feats, and it would be impossible even on that scale for him . The bolded part being the most important.

This means Itachi is better and more versatile in genjutsu than shishui ever was in the past or at the very least better at certain aspects of genjutsu. Shishui seems to only have one powerful genjutsu that he gained alot of fame from using.


On to Obito?

The entire obito is a better genjutsu user than shishui and Itachi due to controlling a perfect jinchuriki is one of the biggest misconceptions on narutobase , equal to that of Tobirama being the strongest suiton user. It was simply never stated.

Danzo's words were " Only few have ever achieved full control over a Bijuu"
People automatically assumed that to mean that Yagura himself was a perf jin, when it doesn't have to be the case. A jinchuriki can gain control over their Bijuu powers without being friends with it. Perfect example would be Yagura, who though didn't have full control, could perform partial and full transformation at will. That scan only means Yagura learned to control his abilities, Not that he befriended the bijju to the point that it would help him break genjutsu. Lets not forget Madara and Hashirama are also on that list, two ninjas who also controlled the power of bijuu by force and will .

Itachi was 13 and was obviously very talented in genjutsu, probably thanks to Shisui. Other reviled criminals gained notoriety and fame.

That scan just says Itachi can maintain a genjutsu on someone beyond the range of their sensors. That is all.

Ao compared Obito's genjutsu to Koto Amatsukami, and you seem to regard Ao's opinion highly.

Everything about Itachi is a misconception.

Whether or not Yagura was on friendly terms with Isobu isn't the most relevant thing here, there are other factors to include such as Ao's statement of Obito's prowess along with the fact that Yagura was still a Kage-level shinobi.

Speaking of which, Obito can control the Kyuubi, Itachi cannot.

I don't need to hear anything you have to say. The scan shows Itachi admitting his Genjutsu techniques pales in comparison to the ultimate Genjutsu, KA of Shisui. Shisui remains the best at Genjutsu, discounting Juubi's Jinchuuriki.

Well, I could say that Tobirama is near the level of EMS Madara, because Hashirama is on EMS Madara's level and Tobirama should be close to it due to being Hashirama's little brother, but does that hold true? No, it's merely speculation. And it isn't true, he lacks feats to be on that level.

We don't know enough about Shisui to put him as the best, besides that off-hand statement by Bee. It is safe to assume though, that since Itachi was best friends with Shisui, he did learn some genjutsu techs and improve upon them. Itachi is the best user at this point. Btw, Izuna was never praised for his genjutsu abilities, we don't know who the best genjutsu user of his time was. He was only stated to be on par w/ MS Madara, but we don't know his genjutsu abilities either.

Danzo never said that Shisui was the best user, he only praised KA. He also praised Itachi's Tsukiyomi.

Why would Itachi deny what Bee said, even if it was false? Itachi is a humble shinobi in this regard, he never seeks praise. He actually disagrees with people when they praise him and tends to put himself down. Also, Shisui was his best friend, why would he disagree w/ Bee, he was probably glad to hear that his friend was respected. Also, at that point it would be pointless to disagree for Itachi, considering that holding such a title doesn't hold much merit for you if you're dead.
