A simple reason would be that Indra already reborn into the material world.
And that's why Sasuke is the logical answer since he was born few days/weeks ago.

Since it's the war between Indra and Ashura and were reincarnated in future generations then there should also be a condition that they should be born in the same generation, right?

I'm of the belief that Madara was the Indra before Sasuke, but after Hashirama died, Yahiko became the new Ashura. Then once Madara/Yahiko died, Sasuke/Naruto were born.

I'm not sure of the timeline but I think only a few years passed after Madara died before the ninetails attack Yahiko might have been still alive then Kakashi was about Naruto's age when the ninetails attack but Yahiko was an adult when he died but I could be wrong

I would like to think that Naruto was chosen due to the fact that he did not exactly inherit all of his parents' skills, just like Ashura. Plus Naruto and Sasuke were born around the same time.

Yahiko is not reincarnation of ashura neither is nagato. Naruto and sasuke are the reincarnation of both brothers. That has been shown since the begining of naruto
