Sure, he isn't a bad choice, definitely debatable! But I think rappers like Rakim, MF DOOM, Talib Kweli, can contest for the spot as a number one "lyricist" (if by that you mean, rhyming, technical aspects, etc).

I have. You shouldn't even have mentioned immortal technique. Rakim and nas are deff legendary lyricist but you can't compare them to eminem because of their different styles and flows. Eminem has changed up his flow so many times and drastically, the way he puts his rhymes together.. He's just a lyrical genius.

But he's not the best. You can't really give any rapper the number 1 spot without shitting on a bunch of other good choices.

I mean I'm not saying he isn't good but to say he is the best is not only close minded but a false statement. There are so many styles of poetry and it's an art form. Art is highly subjective and the perspective is seen different by different people.
