A lot of people think that the elder son Indra had spiraling eyes because of the way Kishimoto drew them a while ago. But the spiral in them was a way to represent the hypnotizing effects of the sharingan. He drew it in a Japanese folk art style, and this style doesn't use much detail. So really he was finding a way to draw a sharingan in the most simple way possible. People will argue with this but I've said it since I saw the picture. It makes sense since the sharingan puts people in a trance, and what is associated with hypnotization. The answer is spirals. Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated.

Imo, his eyes are his Mangeyko Sharingan. They're spirals because they are the closest eyes to the Rinnegan.

Your argument is pretty weak. You don't really have any in-series evidence, just some random claim that you can't even properly connect with the source material you're asserting about. Besides, why would Kishi want to draw the Sharingan in some simple way like it would be some big reveal later?

It's possible given the background of the manga and some of the symbolism that occurs through it. A saw a user mention that it might be a type of Mangekyou or rather an upgrade in his eyes from what we saw in 670.

In chapter 670, Hagoromo said that Indra got a weaker version of his father's eyes.
Now I do know what you're talking about, in a picture he does have spiraling eyes.
Thing is that I am confused about whether he has the red Sharingan that all the Uchiha's have or the Spiral Eyes he was originally shown with.

You guys could be right about the ms, but who would he have killed to get the ms. Maybe the sage himself. I couldn't see it being his brother though they fought. Though some of you say my theory sounds crazy, I think you may be overthinking it. Kishi wouldn't just show a new set of eyes so early on. He probably thought people would pick up on the symbolism instead of overthinking it.

He probably didn't have to kill anybody. He was said to have been born with the Sage's visual powers, so it was only natural that he awakened a Mangeyko Sharingan resembling the Rinnegan.

I am in rehab. I did so well in the detox phase that they're letting me leave the facility, and walk around town. I had a misconception. I thought that I wasn't going to be able to walk off the facility for three months. My brother is in the same facility, and he made it seem like I would have to wait a few months before I could walk into town, but that an error lost in translation from him to my parents. I'm still in rehab, but I'm using the Raleigh libraries computer.

Indra, Sharingan make be automatic and he can't deactivate it but he can turn it into the Spiral Dojutsu we once saw, which is how I assumed he unlocked Susano'o

Well I guess we will find out in time. A lot of my theories have been right though. As an artist myself I'm looking at what Kishi is doing in a different perspective.
