Lets take these two brothers and analyze their respective actions and the ultimate effects they had on the world.

Hagaromo's Legacy:

Shared chakra with all those he taught Ninshuu to create a spiritual connection between people. This leads to people being able to mold their own chakra eventually giving rise to ninjutsu, the art of using chakra for killing.

Split his part of the juubi into 9 tailed beasts, who in time were manipulated and used for war bringing about suffering and destruction (for themselves and others).

Two sons both of which had a chakra legacy descended down into the current era as the Uchiha and the Senju respectively. Hagaromo chose only one son to continue his legacy, inciting a conflict that would descend to the modern era.

Ultimately he is the reason there are "Ninja" wars, wars in which much more catastrophic weapons are fielded (tailed beasts) and countless lives are lost. By comparison at least normal (Samurai) wars don't reshape the landscape drastically (Hashirama vs Madara).

So ultimately at this point Hagaromo's legacy can be seen as bloody and completely destructive in every way. There is no saving grace as of yet.

Hagaromo's Brother's legacy (God would it kill you to name the guy kishi?):

Nothing that we know of.

Wow.....He doesn't really seem to have a visible legacy...doesn't that strike you as...I don't know. Good?

This guy who possessed half of the juubi managed to stay hidden and out of the history books by, YES you guessed it, NOT INTERFERING.

It may be possible that he has descendants in the modern ninja world today, and perhaps these descendants are today still the caretakers of half of the juubi.

Did he succeed where Hagaromo catastrophically failed? As in he managed to secure his part of the juubi for all time, to ensure it would not create more bloodshed?

Overall I can say that this un-named brother is hundred fold more successful and wise than Hagaromo is. He was wise enough to understand that these powers he had gained would only lead to greater suffering, his brother Hagaromo obviously didn't think that way.

Ergo I would say that Hagaromo is the one that thought "power" would bring peace, and that the un-named brother is the one that believed that humanity would find a way, with or without his help. <THAT is true wisdom.

Its also a far more humble approach instead of sticking your big Juubi powered nose in things.

By the other hand, if Hagoromo wouldnt defeat the Juubi, much more lives would be lost, so its probably better the way it is.

Did you understand what you just said? Hagaromo could have defeated the juubi and then followed his brother's obviously superior example and kept his powers to himself and ensured a way that his part of the juubi could be contained for all time. Instead of creating the Biju out of his own curiosity in his own powers. He could have NOT shared chakra realizing that humanity would just use it eventually for more war.

So tell me how is that not better?

I think everyone is taking this brother of the sage too serious. What if maybe that was just a troll from Kishimoto and it is not in any way relevant for the story .

Really?

Kishi would never introduce character as momentous as a BROTHER of the sage who just so happens to have half of the juubi and not expand upon it....So yeah it must be important.

This chapter answered some very big questions, which is good but it raised just as many knew ones. In the past I had considered that maybe Kaguya had other children but I thought it was a long shot. Funny how that turned out to be true. Although that just makes things that much more complicated. What happened to the other brother, why was he forgotten, what were his powers, what happened to his descendants, what happened to the part of the Juubi that he had? Hogoromo said that Kaguya was more powerful than anyone but she didn't seem to have the Rinnegan. It's very weird that even Madara didn't seem to know anything at all about the Sage having a brother. I wonder if it was even written on the stone tablet. So far, we have never been shown any person with the Rinnegan look at the tablet, the only people who have seen it with the Eternal Mangekyou are Madara and Sasuke. Perhaps there is more information on the tablet that no one has ever seen.

Very true, its also why I won't believe a god damn thing this creepy guy says unless its corroborated by another character like his brother or a biju.

if the brother has just been plotting behind the scenes. also it's not really hogoromo's fault that things happened this way as he cannot predict all outcomes. he set things in motion and hoped that humans would have the common sense and not change things that were suppose to inspire connection into something of war. actually the sage had to much faith in humanity, which was the problem.

Madara currently looks like Hagaromo's brother, I think there is going to be some sort of connection there seeing as Madara has been following the Uchiha tablet his whole life. And much like the whole series Hagaromo and his brother will have some sort of Uchiha/Senju relationship. Plus there is that whole thing Oro did infront of the tablet with the Death Reaper mask (Sage's mom?), which he got at an Uzumaki temple if I'm not misten, so he might know more than we are shown.

This chapter definitely brought up more questions than answers, surprisingly.

Oh by the way your mother is really your daughter. Dont ask how it happened.

That is the kind of trolling this is on the level of. If it isn't important, nothing is.
