[Discussion] Does Kishi know we hate flashbacks so much?

Hey all,
Pretty straight forward question, submitted for discussion. Slow day at work and was just kind of wondering about it.

Do you think that Kishimoto is aware of how much fans generally dislike the frequency and length of flashback chapters (or chapters dominated by flashbacks - i.e. 1/3 is a flashback)?

If he does, do you think he cares at all?

In my opinion, he has got to know that generally people are annoyed with them - but probably doesn't care. He wants to tell the story his way.
I will admit that they are necessary to build up the history of characters etc., and are a vital part of the story. However, sometimes they can be a drag (to say the least). This is especially true in the anime - but that's a whole different ball game.

What do you guys think? Does he know - and even care?

They are necessary, and I love the flashbacks between Madara and Hashirama and the Sage and his sons and mother. Don't know why everybody can't wait for Gai to die in some later chapter while we learn more...

I'm sure he's aware but he sees it as necessary. So we just gotta deal with it.

Maybe the title is a bit over generalized with "we" - but I do clarify in the text. I also point out their utility and necessity to the story telling.

Just making an observation, that most people get disenchanted with flashbacks after a while.

More importantly, not making a comment on their quality- they are always done well.

Merely asking if you think he is aware of it, and whether he cares at all (i.e. do you think he adjusts his style to fit fan tastes at all).

Not hating, just bored and wanted to strike up a conversation.

It depends what kind of flashbacks.. If its about Konoha history like in anime now its annoying espicially if filler is non cannon

I stated my personal opinion in the original post. I think I even stated they were "vital" to the series. Maybe title line is misleading a bit, saying "hate" and "we." I'll concede that. However, I wasn't aware that people only post responses to title lines. My bad. So let me be clear - I am asking whether Kishi knows there are many fans who don't like the frequency and length of flash backs, and if so, does he care at all?

To further clarify: Not saying they are poorly done; Not asking whether people hate them; Not saying everyone hates them.

To avoid further confusion, I'll try to edit the title line to say something like "many people dislike." But again, I just assumed a reasonable person would read the entry before posting a response. I stand corrected. Duly Noted.

I get the feeling that people who hate flashbacks are just impatient and want the story to rush forward. Of course 17 pages a week isn't much and many want to get a dose of some good present-time action each Wednesday, but Kishi plans for the manga to be read in volumes. I often re-read chapters in bunches and this way the pacing seems right.

I doubt the people in Japan complain about flashbacks. Most of the haters are here in NB. And kishi couldn't care less about people on a random forum who read his manga for free.

Depends on the kind of flashbacks. If it's new information, like a character's background, then those are needed to advance the story. But if it's scenes that we've already seen like a million times already, then yes, those can get annoying!
