Ashura was the sage his successor so he is the sage as well in some sort of way.
So I dont think Kishi's new chapter contradicts anything.
Naruto will be the sage's successor too.

It's funny because I didn't get this at all. The Sage said the Ashura was like himself. Ashura carried his will. It's like this, if you, your dad and grandfather share similar traits and someone says " you remind me of your grandfather" that doesn't mean that others won't think that you remind them of your father. It's a matter of perspective. Ashura carries his father's will. Ashura is the will of the Sage and since Naruto's is the reincarnation of Ashura then Naruto's is bound to remind the Bijuus of the original source, the sage.

I personally don't see too big a difference. Reincarnation of the sage's son still means he's related to the sage. Having a reincarnated brother that will most likely be Sasuke explains why they constantly fought in part 1. They were destined to battle so I'm pretty sure he had this idea about both of them from the beginning.

Three bolded parts: Misinterpretations. If people here (me included) didn't made theories about this scheme, maybe people wouldn't be so confused about the concrete facts.

- It is never said in the manga that "Child of the Prophecy" means Sage of Six Paths. It is only a child that appeared in the visions of the Elder Toad Sage.

- The tailed beasts didn't said that he reminded them of the sage, they said that he reminded them of the sage's ... (???). Kishimoto purposely left that space in blank so we could create our own conclusions about this, but the hints were out there... Tobi said the most explicit hints. Heck, if you know that the Juubi was divided in Yin and Yang (9 tailed beasts and the gedou mazou) we should have known that they would be able to detect the spirit of the younger son reincarnated in Naruto, they are the Yin of the Juubi after all.

- The tailed beasts never said that Naruto was the Sage.

...so, for the people that feels kind of dissapointed due Kishimoto's writing style: I would ask to be more objective when reading the manga. You are the ones who got confused, not Kishimoto.

That is how I felt

What threwme off was Kurama saying ''It's been too long old man'', but if you re-read what Hagoromo said to the tailed beasts he was just asking them to be patient as someone else will lead them in the future, ties in quite well

we were caught off guard by Kishi and im glad that after so long and so much info he can still do it

So you didn't notice the gazillions of foreshadowing that he was Ashura, not Hagoromo?

^^^this

they never said he was the sage, they said he's the sage's... that could be interpreted as the sage's reincarnation, or the sage's son. it's not a troll, he left that out so he could reveal at a later date. it would have been too predictable if it was just the sage.

The hell Kishi. I'm not even mad about the whole Naruto is the reincarnation of Ashura. It's just that ever since jiraiya died. The entire story has been basically saying Naruto is the child of the prophecy (The Sage of six Paths). Heck even the tailed beast where like he you remind of the sage. I'm mean literally he got the trust of power of the tailed beast because they said he's the sage, but now he's not the sage anymore. Even the min tails was like you remind me of the sage
, he wasn't like yeah you remind me of Ashura (who would techically be his first jinchuriki, but that might not be be true). Ever since the pain arc every single person in the manga, anime heck even the fandom has been saying oh He's the Sage of six paths. Now maybe in the next chapter it will somehow say that naruto is the sage of six paths too, but we don't know that. What we do know is that the entire story till this chapter has basically been pointing out he's the sage he's the sage oh my god he's the sage, but we are expected to accepect he is Ashura.

I'm not trying to piss any one off 'm just pointing out something I noticed after I read the chapter. Also if somebody made a thread about this I'm sorry I looked through 6 pages of the manga forum and didn't see it so please don't be butthurt

He didnt troll us...everyone just assumed they could predict his writing, and they were wrong to do so. I would laugh if kishi changed it to anything but what people predicted, some of you guys on this base were relentless with theories and criticizing kishis story writing.

its his story, everyone shouldve stoped trying to steal his glory and just enjoy the manga

Yah, about that manga and even anime never explicitly said old man's rewakening or whatnot it was just old man's........ then all other bijuu just agree, but u cant deny how the old man is sometimes faded out as Naruto in faded in to where he was standing as the scene changes.

I am a tad glad Naruto is Ashura well seeing as the sage himself admited that from Ashura he learned the concept of cooperation and Yada yoda stuff, then he went on to devide tje chakra of the bijuus(so that when they cooperate they wld b stronger). I now suspect that iy wasnt Hagaromo that went out on a teach pple how to use chakra mission, was the Sage who is Ashura, two legends were fused into one I suspect, coz Im too bored to go on a search for the text and everything it cld also b that coz of constant debates here generall consesus gook over and if it was founded upon misconception then lots of things taken out of context leads to this kind of confusion.
All in all for me Ashra> Hagaromo in terms of beinh the forerunner of a better and peaceful future coz with all that power and whatnot Haga still had to learn from his so seen as useless son.

I know that feel... It is a possibility that just strikes me deep down. It's most likely Ashura was the one who continued his father's work, while Indra introduced the rivalry to prove that peace could be reached with power above all.
