Why was he even shown? Seemed kinda irrelevant after he didn't even get mentioned after they took down the juubi

He is not irrelevent, kishi wouldn't just mention him out of no where. He is probably the ancestor of the hyūga

I think he is very relevant , we don't know what happened to him after having sealed Juubi in his body.
There could be a great story to be told(Uzumaki origins and segregation , Hyuga's rule of 1st is best...).

I called this a couple weeks ago. I'm thinking he's a bad dude. "Jashin" perhaps might fit. I mean we have a guy that can't be killed because a god named jashin made him immortal. No kne thought to ask more questions about that? It would fit. He could also be te one that saved madara after his battle with hashirama. Hashirama sensed someone on the cliff after the battle, the manga shows this.

I' hoping he's the ancestor of all Uzumaki/Hyuuga.

That was my first thought, but now that naruto is the younger son reincarnated it wouldn't really fit as well of have the same impact. I'm thinking "big" bad guy. The final villain. One that is twisted into pure evil over time. Naruto needs a villain like that.

Agreed!!! There was two sages of the six paths! And this one will pass on this will and the other will pass on the will which madara and indra possess

I wonder what it was that made history remember hagoromo and not his brother. What if the two fought and hagoromo as the victor was also the one remembered ( if only as a mere myth ) and his brother sunk into nothingness?

he can be an example on how the Sage's brother remain on Sage's side, even after his brother was choosen to be Juubi's host.

That isn't necessarily true. There is one bad ass mother****er we have heard of but wrote it off to superstition. If he is the brother than everyone is ****ed:

Jashin, the jashin that gave an idiot like Hidan unmatched power in exchange for worship and blood.


If Kaguya is the reaper, and the safe is the god of the ninja, then it would make sense to have a devil of the ninja in jashin. Naruto needs a bad guy that can't be "talk no jitsu'd" out of their plot to make the world better in some weird way.

He sealed half of Juubi with reaper. Also connected with Uzumaki, etc.

Look the Juubi during the war has 6 tomoes. The Juubi they fought against had 12 tomoes. So half of it was removed, probably by Hagoromo's brother.
