I don't think he had a "usual" Mangekyo Sharingan(even the eMS isn't much different). A Mangekyo should also look like a kaleidoscope.

His ocular power was most likely never hindered by the negative effects of the Mangekyo. The effects were either a byproduct of an actual curse or when the blood thinned over generations, obtaining Indra's power lead to huge consequences.

We don't know the full potential of Indra and Ashura. Kishi has shown them with Susanoo and Bijū-Mode to underline the parallels to Sasuke and Naruto, I guess.

Pretty sure Kishi just changed it. Kishi has changed many, many aspects of his manga overtime. Its a simple result of him coming to, what he considers, a more understandable plotline than he originally imagined.

If you ask me, Kishi's essentially saying the spiral eyes don't actually exist now.... since he decided to change it. -_-

Pretty sure Kishi just changed it. Kishi has changed many, many aspects of his manga overtime. Its a simple result of him coming to, what he considers, a more understandable plotline than he originally imagined.

Well, his eyes had to mutate beyond the 3 tomoe in order to use MS jutsu, you might be right, but at this point I'm assuming that this is the mutation.

There could definitely be more to them, but his Susano'o seemed to be pretty high up there. I'm just assuming at this point, I'm sure there's more to come, actually.
