Exactly, this limit would be either - infinite or + infinite(it will depend from "which direction" x approaches 0), but dividing by 0 is impossible, for now that is.

Good thing limits are still fresh in my mind, as I had a test about it 2 weeks ago. But I guess this is somthing I'll never forget, just like dividing polynomials.
Are you taking spring semester calculus too?

a =< 1

BUMP

If a =< 1, then we can't say for sure. If a tends to 0, then we can't say the result of a division 0/0. If a tends to 1, it's infinite.

Are you taking spring semester calculus too?

Yeah. This is actually my first semester in college. My course is civil engineering. What about yours?

I guess the only logical argument to say that infinite is not exactly like a real number is the fact that we don't know how big is the infinite we're considering/using in that equation. If I write infinite/infinite, if it were a real number, the result would be 1. However, the result can be anything, because we don't know how big is the first infinite, anmd how big is the second one.

Ok, but lets take a base part of "infinite". "Finite". Meaning it is equivalent to a certain value. All numbers in the world apply this property. "Infinite" does not. That's why "in-" is included. Infinite is the epitome of the contrast to the real numbers. Thus, it is not a real number.

Right now I'm taking a calculus course as part of my premed requirements.

your grammar sucks boy. i've never mentioned infinity being a real number. infinity is a number, but it is an hyper real number.
and i'm sorry but you have taken a source from an article written to pre schoolers. infinity is a number just like sqrt -2. maybe you just haven't done with gym yet?

Oh, nice. But what will you study? I mean, what will you be your profession once you graduate from college?

I'm still deciding between becoming a doctor or doing medical research.

I like to think that a real number can't take multiple values, so I can agree with you. However, this seems to be a very interesting discussion, and I don't want to keep it on the "I think". Tell you what: I'll gather some information tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, and then, I'll PM or VM you regarding this topic. Is it ok for you?

You capitalize every first letter of a sentence. I suggest you worker on your grammar. Also here's a list of mistakes you made:

-i've.....should be I've
-infinity....in sentence 3 should be "Infinity".
-i'm.....should be "I'm"
-maybe....should be "Maybe"

I'll edit this post after I compile all of my counterarguments.*
*I'll just utilize the next post.

Correct, although so far I've mostly been doing chemistry courses, but I prefer biology.

Got it. Biology isn't my favorite subject, tbh. But math and physics, I really love both. I would've actually chosen math as my course(and once finished, I would take physics). However, being a teacher doesn't really fit me. And in brazil....well, I like to have money, so it's not a great option. So I chose civil engineering, as it seems very close to both.
Anyway, good luck in your course, I hope you enjoy it and become a skilled doctor.
