Why the Elder Son didn't have the rinnegan

It's simple, really.

The SO6P split his powers up between his two sons. His older son got his eye powers. His younger son got his body powers. The SO6P's body powers, which was the juubi's/tailed beasts strength, became the power of mokutun in the younger son, as shown by the Senju clan. Therefore, the SO6P's rinnegan became the sharingan as shown by the Uchiha clan.

To gain the rinnegan, you need to combine the power of the Senju and the Uchiha, to gain the eyes of the SO6P. How could the Elder Son have the Rinnegan when his descendants (Uchiha) needed the power of Senju to gain the same eyes as the Elder Son and SO6P?

This leads into a possibility that the Elder Son actually did have his own form of Dojutsu.

Edit: New possibility, what if his eyes were just EMS and the Byakugan fused together, with the byakugan being the weaker one, which explains why the Uchiha clan were his descendants as the sharingan was more powerful?

I've seen quite a lot of people argue that the eyes of the Elder Son were just the rinnegan and Kishi just drew the swirls on his eyes differently in the manga chapter where he's shown, so I thought I'd make this thread to clear it up.

OT: I think he did possess Rinnegan, we have only seen some not good Kaguya-like picture of him, so those spiral eyes are most likely just distorted image of Rinnegan. The're no other hints in the manga of some different doujutsu even existed. And it's been stated in the manga that he did inherit Sage's eyes, not their degraded form.

Hm, Madara also doesn't own the exactly same powers like the Senju. With Hashiramas cells he has received only one part of the strength of the Senju ~ physical energy.

But you need to combine strength(younger son feat) + eyes(older son feat) to get rinnegan.
Older son could not have rinnegan because he did not have the younger son's feats, but only the older's. lmao

You need to combine both powers. Unless he took younger son's cells and did what Madara did, i dont see how can he get Rinnegan.

I think what the manga means is that Older son got the Sage's "Occular Powers", when the manga says "sage's eyes", and younger son got his physical power.

Thats how i see it.

Ive been wanting to make a theory abut this. What if his eye is just an MS? All MS are different so why cant his be swirly?

IMO all people saying its a new doujutsu are just raying for it to be the next Sasuke upgrade and not the logical cursemark and/or rinnegan.

He had the watered down version of the rinnegan(his lack of strong body), but not the sharingan, the eternal mangekyou sharingan might not be the last stage in the evolution of the uchiha genkai kekkai.

I used to think the same way. I thought of the possibility that Madara misunderstood the tablet or something and that in actuality you don't need Senju DNA to achieve the Rinnegan, it's just that having Senju DNA increased Madara's power to the level where he could achieve the Rinnegan, I always thought that since Sasuke's latent power would make him exceed Madara's that it will grant him the Rinnegan without the Senju DNA as Senju DNA will grant him aside from the Rinnegan other abilities that either doesn't fit his style or give him abilities that should be Naruto's ex: Mokuton, Healing and great life-force and physical energy

If you look at elder son's eyes , you'll see that they are not sharingans , rinnengans or byakugans.

Those eyes are not EMS+Byakugan fused together , those eyes are the seeds that gave birth to Sharingan and Byakugan.
