confused about Kekkai Genkai/Tota

According to the anime, kekkai genaki can be passed down genetically or through DNA transplant (or eye transplant for visual jutsu). However, it seems to be that Ohnoki learned the Particle Style from Mu. How is that possible? The only way it would make sense is if some of Mu's DNA was transplanted into Ohnoki. Same deal with Lava Style.....there are multiple known users who are unrelated.

Also, Mei was born with water, fire, & earth chakra natures, which gave her 2 kekkai genkai. Why is she not able to combine the 3 to make some sort of kekkai tota?

If anyone can explain this logically (as far as logic goes in an anime), that would be great.

Mei probably isn't able to. And Ohnoki just learned it somehow because plot deemed it so.

Only some people are borned with the ability to combine elements, Mei is rare and was born with the ability to combine water and fire, and fire and earth, but wasn't born with the ability to combine all of them

Its not 100 % you need DNA. Some people are just born with abilities. For example Mei has Two KKG's.

It's not specifically just handed down through DNA, perhaps he learnt it because he had the skill or something similar

That wouldn't make sense since Kekkai Genkai means "a technique limited to inheritance by blood." So based on what I know from the anime, he would either have to be related to Mu or had some of Mu's cells transplanted into him, like Madara did with Hashirama's cells.

There are two different types of KKG. One is limited to bloodline (such as Sharingan), the other is created by moulding 2 chakra nature together ("name" Release). Moulding chakra natures together isnt limited to bloodline but you need to be born with the ability to mould chakra natures together. Mei doesn't have the ability to mould 3 chakra natures like Muu and Onoki have.

Ohnoki has 3 chakra natures and hes able to combine all three which is kekkei touta. So basicaly clans just has kekkei genkais with diferent chakra natures apart from Uchiha and Hyuga which is diferent kkg, just able to manipulate 2 chakra natures at one time or like Ohnoki 3 at once.

I thought it had to do with the chakra natures that someone is born with. I remember Kakashi & Yamato saying that most ninja only have 1 until (their affinity) they become jonin and develop more. For example, Kakashi has a lightning affinity, but can also use fire, earth, & water style. Yet, his only kekkai genkai is the sharingan he got from Obito. Same deal with Asuma......he has a wind affinity, but can also use fire style, yet he has no kekkai genkai.

No you're born with ability to combine 2 elements, if it was like that Hiruzen would've tons of KKG, KKT and even the black stuff

So being born with the ability to combine 2-3 specific chakra natures.....does that only apply to 1 specific clan? For exmaple, Mu's clan the only one capable of combining earth, fire, & wind?

No, its not just limited to a clan but certain clans have an affinity to certain chakra natures.

About KKG, They don't have to be part of the same clan or family but they probably have the same DNA, like Mei and Kurotsuchi both have Lava Release, they are from different Villages but are bloodline related (even if it's from far away). The most normal Kekkei Genkai are Lava, Magnetic, Storm and Explosion, that probably means that those techniques are really easy to pass from generation to generation

Kekkei Tota also needs a specific bloodline, but in contrary to KKG only some specific people can use it, like there are 100 people with that bloodline, but only 1 or 2 can use it, if it was a KKG like Storm Release most of them would have it

They are all distant relatives born of the descendants of princess Kaguya, and the so6p. Onoki and my are probably closely related relatively speaking. They need to command three elements for the gekei tota. It worked out that implies was able to control those elements and learn the style my created

Mei and Kurotsuchi might not be related...Kurotsuchi's dad uses plain old earth release.

This is only speculation, but i think Kurotsuchi got her Lava release from Roshi the former jinchuuriki of Son Goku. He had lava release and it was said that Jinchuuriki are picked from relatives of the Kage so they don't betray the village...perhaps Roshi had a daughter who was Kurotsuchi's mother.

as for Kekkai Tota, who knows...maybe earth country has some secret seal(like curse seal) to pass the ability on to the next Tsuchikage (they appear to be the only ones to inherit it)
