With Gin's bankai's special power it's pretty much a 1 hit as long as it hits you. And due to how fast it is Gin wins if he can point is his blade at Kenpachi and since Kenpachi never have been one to be especially careful (Or all that fast) I don't see what would stop Gin from doing just that and then 1 hitting him.

Yes, but we are talking about SS arc, at that time those two aren't potrayed as strongest (as long as i remember), they had only one fight (don't count Kyoraku vs Chad) and that was against Yama, at that time we didn't know about Yama's strength and most of fight was off panel.
