How do they practice the eighth gate?

If you die after opening the eighth gate, how do people learn to use it? Lee can only open six gates which implies it is not an easy technique to learn and doesn't just come naturally. Do you think that you only die if you open it for a certain period of time? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Well, all the other gates obviously must be learned. But when Gai opened the Eigth Gate, he jabbed his heart or something.

Im sure if they know that jutsu, then they can open the Eigth Gate without training it.m

Idk, Im prolly wrong.

I've always thought that opening each of the gates is pretty much the same, with each requiring a greater level of physical strength...which would mean that opening the eighth gate is actually a risky move in the first place, because you can't train it but can only hope it works. Most likely incorrect though

I assume there are oral traditions passed down. Or archives of sorts.

what if gai used shadow clones to practice just like naruto did

Didn't they say naruto was the only one skilled enough with shadow clones to train that way! Idk, maybe guy could have just done it on a smaller scale.

That makes sense.

But how is it passed down? The first person to discover/use it would have died shortly after use, who would they have time to tell lol

I just had to go back and look at that lol. Physical activation makes a lot of sense. Either way though, I have a lot of questions about this technique that Kishi needs to answer!!!

What if the only way to be able to open the 8 gates is to be one with your body, to train it not to give in to the pain. They train so rigorously, that they are able to reach any gate, because they can just keep on going. They strongly hold the strength of youth to heart, so they die young to protect their friends, and teach the generation below them how to value the people around you.

The people who learn the technique must always witness the technique being used. The student always witnesses the master use his the final technique, and in that moment they learn how to do it. But that leads to the next question which is how did the first person use the technique, did they figure out the first gate through trial and error.then kept going further till they died?

Good explanation, guy saw his dad use it, Lee is seeing Guy use it. Maybe that's why its such an uncommon technique, it's a "You had to be there" sort of thing

only the first successor of this technique needs to be present.....he could then record it and pass it down via scrolls/archives

I think the trial and error theory makes sense....it's just that I think there'd have to be more than one person who took the trials ...

I believe all the gates are trained by first increasing your base. Thats why Lee does those crazy ass 500 lap handstands nonstop.

Once your base is suited for the stress the gates bring, you acclimate your self by training in each of the gates.

The 8 gates is different since it boosts your base by massive amounts.

The attacks in each of the gates are pretty simple. Its regular taijustu except its on a larger scale. Only the 6th gate and below is safe enough to actually develop techniques without dying or being quickly hospitalized.

It depends on how your body can handle the stress it brings. Its why Gai failed the 1st time using evening elephant.

But I don't think you ever train in 8 gates. You're just taught how to release it. Whatever move you develop while in it is new unless seen or theorized about.

Gai probably assumed evening elephant could be successful in 8 gates.
