I'm very sad that Gai is going to die but what a hell of a way to go out. He is beating the crap out of a guy who smashed all 5 current Kages, 4 edo hokages and most of the shinobi alliance without really breaking a sweat. What a fantastic feat to die from.

That would be uber-cool but I think it would go against the main premise of the character. Guy and Lee are about the energy of youthful life. Edo-versions of them would seem thematically incongruent though mechanically awesome.
