Kakashi only needs to protect himself. not the area around him. a double raikiri will defeat kirin hell it even got its name for slashing a lightning bolt facts are facts.

Kirin is too widespread and raikiri is from the hand. Even if Kakashi was able to cut it he'll only cut a small portion of it.

First of all, would Kakashi even be able to prepare the jutsu in the 1/1000 of a second required? I highly doubt that. Second of all, Kirin had absolutely obliterated the surroundings. Even if he survives the initial impact, which is literally physically impossible, he gets incinerated by the heat it produces or disintegrated if he can't bring it up fast enough.

whether he'd be able to react has nothing to do with the op's question at hand, which is whether kirin would best raikiri or vice versa. yes it obliterated the surrounding as it made full impact whereas kakashis raikiri would cut it in half. obliterating the surroundings is moot when the area kakashi is standing on is completely fine. and heat is bs. itachi didnt die from no heat even though susano'o was removed after kirin's initial impact.
