just because she is a kid does not mean she does not deserve a boost how else does she keep the title of sky dragon slayer without tainting it. they really should give her something as Makarov made a point of stating things about there being three dragon slayer's now after a prophecy of the guild. this has great value for the manga and with that said she needs to be as strong or closer to as strong as gajeel and natsu. like why should she be the first of the three to die she is just a kid if anything she should be the last of those three to die. we all know sooner or later one of them will meet there end that's a given.
I disagree. You are completely reducing the concept of dragon slayers to plain power. Tainting the title of dragon slayer nor Makarov's words about a prophecy are necessarily connected with dragon slayers being all-powerful warmachines. Wendy has been profiled by Hiro from the start as a supporting-type of mage instead of the fighting-type and I really don't see what's wrong with that. Even Brain, the leader of the Oracion Seis, acknowledged that Wendy's healing powers are off the charts. She is strong in her own way on top of being already quite powerful in a regular way. She has grown too, she used for the first time a dragon breath (what can be considered one of the most standard powerful DS attacks) during the Oracion Seis arc and afterwards learned another powerful attack during the Grand Magic Games arc. She was able to draw with Shelia, a god slayer that's probably the 3rd strongest in Lamia Scale after Jura and Lion.
Also being able to summon a dead spirit is quite a useful supplementary ability. Yes it's only useful in specific cases and if such opportunities don't arise, then it might seem stupid, however that's due to how the creator writes the story. If he solely focuses on hand-to-hand battles, well then the power of such an ability is lost, but from a rational point of view that's not an ability to be underestimated. Don't forget that most of the info we have about what happened 4 centuries ago is due to her ability.
And yes she's still a kid and already quite a powerful one too. I really wonder if Natsu, when he was at her age, would already have been as strong as she is now. Not to mention because she is far younger than the other dragon slayers, she also had far less training. Realistically speaking she should be weaker than Natsu and Gajeel otherwise it doesn't make sense. Two combat-oriented fighting maniacs are as strong as a healing-oriented younger girl.
