Man so much friken hate. I like flashbacks. It strengthens the story and the characters. It showed Guy's dad. I find it kinda weird that his name is Dai though, kishi shouldve been more creative lol. Not everything has to be action. I give it 5/5 because I love every chapter and aint a bandwagon hater

Definitely. I'm coming late to this conversation, so I'm not sure what's been said before in thread, but I feel as if many people are forgetting that Naruto isn't Bleach. If you just wanted a straight up fight manga, there are like a thousand. What makes Naruto awesome and kind of unique is Kishi's consistent character development.

Also, I feel like when we re-read Naruto in 5, 10, 15 years, we will be grateful for the time that Kishi is taking with all of the characters. One of the things that has made this manga more difficult to enjoy for me is that I'm no longer reading it in the collected volumes, but week by week instead. But when I go back to re-read an entire story arc, I realize how awesome it is that Kishi isn't merely giving us a bleach-like clash of titans, but also raising the stakes for each battle by increasing our emotional investment in each character.

This chapter really helped me get into Guy's character. I know for the most part his battle is just stalling for the main events, but I still want to feel connected to it. I applaud Kishi for giving meaningful attention to Guy during this send-off; it's much better treatment than Neji got; Kishi learned not to let the big plotpoints completely overshadow the characters, particularly when long-running side characters are being killed off.
