Sakura does it on her head (Non fatal).

Gai does it on his heart (Fatal).

The Heart is a very important organ in the Human Body. Concentrating all your Chakra on the Heart will surely destroy you. The Head can store Chakra because it is not an organ in the first place. So the assumption that concentrating chakra on your heart is fatal is actually logical rather than illogical.

Gai doesn't concentrate his chakra to hid heart. He forcefully connected his gate paths which increase chakra flow on unheard of levels to his last gate. His chakra doesn't concentrate at the heart.



The taijutsu aspect is just about it.... Even then their styles are different.

Sakura: Evasive, and strikes with chakra concentration blasts.

Gai: Offensive speed strikes. Uses overwhelming chakra flow.

Guy removes limiters from his chakra network. That's a big difference right there.
