Play on of words obviously in that opening the 8th gate Might cause you to die/Dai, but what if it were possible that Might Gai might 'not' die if he closes the 8th gate before all his blood cells are burned out?

It's much more likely that Might Gai Might Dai but what if this was a play on words and he only 'MIGHT' DAI-DIE so he might have taken it to the next level or mastered the 8th gate?

Of course this play on words may actually be some type of metaphor in that Madara, Minato and everyone thinks that Might Dai and soon Gai are just dead and died for no reason but actually they are still living on by passing down the torch of youth (Next to Rock Lee).

anyways once opening the gate its done. simple as that you cant reverse it, by him opening the 8th gate he has already signed his death sentence.
