Gai did note he was going to become the Red Beast of Konoha...... you could equate the Gates to Kaoken since Kishi draws great inspiration from the series.

Well kishi is a fan of DBZ of course, it's a ho menage.

I hope he's going to draw inspiration from DBZ, it's been a long time since I've seen some serious fighting in a manga or anime that wasn't about special abilities or weapons, just asskicking.

But I never thought of Gai as a characer that was based on DBZ, he reminds me more of Kenshiro from Fist of the Northstar.
