The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of my favorites of all time, but different strokes for different folks I guess.

The hobbit movies are good but not as good as the LOTR trilogy, but since the new hobbit movies were made for a wider audience you may enjoy them.

Everytime I watch LOTR, I enjoyed it a bit further than previous time - that says a lot about the depth of the movie.

Tolkien's work is simply beyond masterpiece, he basically wrote a New Bible, + an entirely New language that is what lord of the rings is, except this is a bible for pure entertainment. Those movies did not cover half of the story, but they were made magnificently and anyone who thinks its boring, is either extremely realistic "and should stay away from such movies period" or simply shallow.
