Well, I'm pretty sure a lot of guys in here knows some of the basics about the origins of the word "akatsuki".

Aka = Red
Tsuki = Moon

And of course, we have the guys with black robes and red clouds, probably due the Tsuki no me.

I was doing some research, and I found a music theme played by one of my favorite artists, "Mintjam".

The theme is called "Akatsuki".

Now please, take a look to the theme name, in English:

The theme is called "Dawn".

I found this very interesting, this word has far more meaning than 'red moon' if we speak in metaphorical terms, it's more fitting to the context of part 2.

Anyways, I just wanted to share this one. Who knows, maybe the new technique of Gai could be Akatsuki-no-ryuu (暁の竜 - Dragon of Dawn).

Well akatsuki does mean Dawn .
Even in the filler episode , they showed Yahiko coming up with the name when they were looking at Dawn .
Maybe the two names represent the two different times of the organisation to sort of represent their ideals .
Dawn when Yahiko was leader .
Red moon when Obito and Nagato became the leader .

You got an interesting point of view in there. I'd like to see if there is some information in the Databooks related to the organization, because I don't trust in the wikia.

I tried translating and the result i got was "Dawn" ,you can try it for yourself . If you could then can you please tell me from where did you find out that its meaning was "Red Moon" ?

EDIT : Ah nevermind , i opened the link AwesomeSeimei posted . Its Red moon in the Romaji translation .
So maybe it is like this after all : Dawn for Yahiko's akatsuki and Red Moon for Obito and Nagato's akatsuki

赤 - Aka: Red
月 - Tsuki: Moon
暁 - Akatsuki: Dawn

This is the reason I'd like to get the meaning from the raw or a Databook.

Let's just end it that Akatsuki means both of it and it was just Kishi's way of playing with the word.

Japanese is a high context language so depending on what situation you use them in, the same word can have varied meaning. However akatsuki usually just meand dawnas the moon isn't literally red very often!
