I don't really think Madara is selfish. He's doing it for the same reasons Obito did: To create what they believe will be the ideal world for all, and themselves. The difference between Obito and Madara is, Obito does the actions, like killing and fighting and capturing Bijuu and stuff, because of necessity, it's what he has to do. Madara, while also doing it out of necessity, enjoys the process, he likes having the power and using it, and he has no qualms about it because he can just revive all he's injured with the world Infinite Tsukiyomi will create.
