I don't think so... I mean if Gai doesn't even survive a whole chapter, Kishi would have completely ridiculed him. The again, if he does open it immediately, he might show some power but at the end of the day, him dying in only a chpater while he hasn't even opened it would be a shame.

Its easy to manipulate that, I swear that I have seen Kakashi standing like that in another scene. It also looks out of place, as it looks like Kakashi is looking in a long distance. The picture of Guy is mist likely just an image of him with his eyes edited shut.
