Name: Koumei Ren | Nickname: Dantalion | Gender: Male | Age: 28 | Clan: Uzumaki

Koumei Ren is a relatively light-skinned male individual of above-average height (6' 2") and moderate muscle tone. His messy, crimson-colored hair easily reaches to his waist, and is normally tied in a simple ponytail. As far as facial features go, Koumei is distinguished by several prominent freckles and very vivid amber eyes. In acknowledgement of his heritage, he has a small crimson tattoo of the Uzumaki clan crest on his left shoulder. Whether loitering about or on a mission, Koumei wears loose robes, pinkish-purple in coloration, bearing a blue taijitu symbol and a design of the big dipper constellation. Whenever he leaves his home, Koumei wears white bandages wrapped around both his legs (up to shins) and basic, blue shoes designed for extensive traveling. Also, he wears matching blue-beaded bracelets on each wrist and a large heart-shaped earring in his left ear. Tucked within a decorative silk sash, concealed by his robe and located around his stomach section, Koumei wears a titanium wasp knife on each side of his waist. Attached to the same sash, a blue tool pouch can be found on back, which contains: explosive tags, flash bombs, kunai, shuriken, senbon, smoke bombs, and a small scroll that stores all of his combat puppets. Lastly, Koumei wears a blue rope belt around his waist, tied in a bow, in which he carries his customized Amegakure umbrella.

⫷ Personality ⫸
In his youth, Koumei was largely defined as being an introverted individual. Uninterested in attention directed towards him, he was quiet and easy to placate. Though Koumei enjoyed bonding with his siblings and other family members, the personal hobbies he maintained were oft structured around solitary actions; reading various genres and military strategies were perhaps the more satisfying activities Koumei partook in on a daily basis, along with frequent games of shogi with his father. An avid reader, one of Koumei's frequent requests to his grandparents and parents was to be allowed to visit the local library, where he would spend countless hours in relative silence as he immersed himself in knowledge. Indeed, one thing that became quite evident was that Koumei possessed a great deal of both patience and focus, based off of all his hobbies and tolerance of his siblings' constant shenanigans.

Currently, Koumei is predominantly characterized as being stern and cynical. His sternness stems from several years of observing the detrimental nature of violent conflicts and the subsequent bloodshed, along with the military and political subterfuge frequently utilized in propagating such events. An avid reader, the Shinobi World Wars and lesser, internal conflicts have been scrutinized to great length and Koumei has come to understand the interdependence the varying lands and their villages play in economic success. Analyzing both substantive and succinct reports alike, Koumei desires to stabilize the poverty-stricken districts of Amegakure and curtail the number of homeless/starving orphans. Given the relatively small populace and region of the Land of Rain, Koumei hopes that with the assistance of his siblings and peers, Amegakure can establish itself as an economically and socially sound entity, the best of the best.. When not immediately immersing himself in information, Koumei relishes the opportunity to help the village via missions and village projects, such as volunteering. Under his watchful eye, a powerful agriculture enterprise has emerged and has been making headway in improving land usage and general harvesting methods, which are core components of the Land of Rain's economy. Other projects Koumei has a hand in are the various orphanages located within Amegakure, which he has been working tirelessly to improve and facilitate better education within. Though an honest and kind man, Koumei does have some ulterior motives in his various actives; he wishes to use economic surplus to support the nation's military forces and the orphanages to cultivate prime candidates for the Ninja Academy. Just like his brothers, Koumei has a profound desire to conqueror the surrounding, larger and more prominent regions, and ultimately, make the known world "whole". All in all, upon merely a cursory glance, it may seem as though Koumei is aloof and overall, a simply charitable individual, however, there is more to him than such things. Koumei's goal is to see Amegakure flourish and lead the way to unifying all the various lands spread out across the map. No matter what it takes, he is willing to devote both his mind and body to his goals, and is not above making personal sacrifices either. Simply put, Koumei doesn't believe that the general populaces of many cultures/ideologies can coexist without great bloodshed, but by extinguishing differences, peace can be attained.

Koumei was born to a respectable merchant-class couple, in the capital city of the Land of Wind. Throughout his infancy, Koumei and his three siblings were typically nurtured by their maternal grandparents, whom were renown for their exploits as members of the puppet brigade prior to their retirement. Though their only daughter had not pursued the path of a ninja, the two elderly puppeteers really felt that their grandchildren would grow up to make splendid ninja and thus, relished every opportunity they were presented with to mold Koumei and his siblings in their proud image.

By the age of eight, Koumei had learned to be quite independent from those around him. Indeed, since the beginning, he possessed a high enthusiasm for reading and solitary treks out into the desert that seemed to surround the small village he lived in. His grandparents, ever watchful, often allowed Koumei to visit the local library and make selections from a plethora of genres; however, they also consistently urged him to study texts about puppetry and military tactics. Two years later, Koumei had come to embrace the lifestyle of a ninja and was regularly practicing the puppetry technique with his grandparents’ supervision. Koumei’s interest in puppetry would quickly go beyond the expectations of his family, and on top of regularly reading, he would devote time to modify some spare puppets he’d been gifted with. Many hours were spent analyzing the complex mechanisms of various basic and sophisticated puppets alike, and Koumei would spend even more time developing his own personal modifications for each and every one of the puppets.

Unfortunately, Koumei’s time in the Land of Wind eventually came to an end, as his parents had decided it was in their best interest to join a caravan and head northeast, where they would be more able to profit from agriculture. Upon eventually arriving in the Land of Rain, Koumei was profoundly confused, as was his siblings; everything was different. To exacerbate the rough situation, Koumei and his siblings became the newest students of Amegakure’s academy. Though daily regimen was quite intense, Koumei managed to demonstrate a solid understanding of the primary ninja tenets and even managed to become a chūnin by the time he had turned twelve. Even though it wasn’t until a few years later that Koumei was openly praised by the Amegakure hierarchy, a few prominent councilors did take notice of Koumei’s capacity to make highly successful strategies/tactics for not just his squad mates, but also numerous other squads too. Still, Koumei couldn’t help but feel aloof from the general populace and never truly bonded with anyone outside of his family. He was always able to make all sorts of allies, but true companions were more difficult to acquire.

Once later adolescence arrived, Koumei soon found himself flourishing in nearly all mainstream aspects of the ninja way. Koumei would spend a few hours a day honing his body and committing multiple techniques to memory, and then he would meditate and read for the remainder of the days he did not have village-assigned missions. Eventually, Koumei became drawn to the politics of Amegakure and the outlying region, where he learned of the dark past that surrounded the small, war-torn nation. During conversations with his older brother, Koumei became convinced that people were their own worst enemy. All the documented instances of mass deaths were due to excessive warfare, over nothing more than money and land. In his own mind, Koumei couldn’t even begin to fathom the greediness that seemed to dictate most of the world’s social predicaments. Even people with similar cultures and ideologies would habitually fall into conflict, and it was merely a matter of time before another Shinobi World War would emerge. Of course, in extensively studying the history of the land, some of Koumei’s concerns came to rest upon the notorious criminal organization known as Akatsuki. Though only consisting of a handful of members, their power was undeniable and their intentions, forbidding and ominous. Fearing the worst, Koumei decided that the best preventive measure for conflict was to have Amegakure gradually consolidate its strength silently, then expand its reach to adjacent lands and eventually beyond.

Once adulthood arrived, Koumei had become a regular attendee of most military council meetings and in his spare time, had established several public projects in the village to occupy his free time. Koumei was happy to assist Amegakure in its plight to become stable, especially with the death of their God, Pein, not too long ago. Indeed, every action Koumei made, in his mind, was nothing more than a crucial step in unifying the world at large. In keeping with his agenda, Koumei consistently strives to improve Amegakure in several sectors, whilst keeping a watchful eye on the ominous rumors surrounding Akatsuki. In keeping with the desire to increase Amegakure’s military power, Koumei decided that it would be best for him to traverse the known world and accrue as much experience and knowledge as possible. For so long, Koumei had been content to linger in the shadows, however, he believed that adventuring would be a critical stage in his personal development. It wasn’t until he turned twenty-three when Koumei made his return to the village. Much of his time abroad had confirmed his perception of the human race, and he was growing weary of the perpetual propagation of corruption, greed, and hypocrisy. Progress was required for the world to blossom in a positive manner, and Amegakure would be the forerunner in the gradual, profound changes to come. Time would soon bear witness..

⫷ Specialties & Abilities ⫸
♦ Wind Affinity: Soon after delving into the diverse field of elemental ninjutsu, Koumei Ren was handed a small piece of paper, which had been made from a unique tree grown and fed with chakra. Upon streaming just a fraction of his chakra into the paper, Koumei observed it split cleanly into two strips. Years later, and with much training behind him, Koumei found that he was skilled enough to perform most fūton techniques with nothing more than a single hand-seal.

♦ Puppeteer: Koumei Ren is a ninja whom is able to easily create multiple chakra threads via the Puppetry Technique.
Tailored to his fighting style, Koumei always keeps a small scroll on his person, which houses all of his various puppets.

♦ Monkey Summoner: Koumei, during his time abroad, was granted the privilege of becoming one of just a select few individuals who are tied to the Monkey Contract. He has learned to summon several powerful monkey allies and has bonded with them all to the extent that they can cooperate with him in near-perfect tandem when fighting, side by side.

♦ Umbrella Wielder: Koumei carries an umbrella unique to Amegakure ninja that may be used for combative purposes.
  • Gliding: Once high in the air and using a wind technique to create a gust, an open Amegakure umbrella can create extended periods in the air via gliding. With the advantage of wind direction, the umbrella wielder could travel extended distances slowly, but easily whilst gradually dropping in altitude. With any given technique that pushes, an umbrella wielder could glide as high as 25 meters in the air and move with a speed of 8 meters/turn.
  • Senbon Shower: The umbrella may release a hailing "shower" of senbon. It cannot be dodged by moving away, since the needles cover a wide area in all directions and are controlled by chakra. Although the needles are said to be able to pierce a five millimeter thick steel sheet, they can still be blocked by a sufficiently durable shield.

Rank: C
Type: Attack
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: After hurling their umbrella into the air, the user will unleash a torrent of needles. Using their chakra they can guide these needles towards their opponent.

  • Shield: The umbrella's cover consists of metallic threads, which can block some weak physical attacks/projectiles.
  • Added Modification: Water jet, C rank & Short-Mid range. The umbrella wielder may release a sharp jet stream of water at their intended target from the tip of the umbrella, which can easily push them back a short distance.
⫷ Miscellaneous ⫸
Throughout adolescence and particularly now, there are very few genres of literature that Koumei will abstain from delving into. Indeed, he regularly invests borderline excessive amounts of focus and enthusiasm in his reading pursuits. Though Koumei reads a great amount of text for leisurely respite, he also relishes reading various assorted historical texts, especially those which report details on significant conflicts and the past Shinobi World Wars (I - III), as they infer a great deal of knowledge that is applicable to current events he is involved in. Other historical texts he finds particularly intriguing include those that recount the political subterfuge. Indeed, military exploits rank quite high on Koumei's preferred readings and when his schedule allows for it, he allots time for peaceful walks to some of the libraries and bookstores scattered throughout Amegakure, so as to clear his mind and gather more information. Especially when abroad, he goes to great pains to acquire rare texts that he could never hope of coming across back in his homeland. Koumei's hobby in reading is most clearly evident in the form of the largest of his home's rooms, his personal study, which contains a few dozen tall, wooden bookshelves stocked with a plethora of novels and texts in both book and scroll format. There is nothing material Koumei cherishes more than his study, thus, he consistently possesses much pride in maintaining the large, underground room and allowing various villagers to borrow some of its literary contents periodically upon request. Though it is regularly cleaned and organized by three loyal monkeys, he can almost immediately tell when even a single book is out of place or all together absent and is obsessive-compulsive in up-keeping it. Koumei's dream is to house more readings in his home than anywhere else in the Land of Rain. The tarnishing of any text of Koumei's is bound to draw the brunt of his ire.

Koumei's current residence is located at Pier Five of Amegakure, and more specifically in a house-boat (42' x 14' x 14'), on the water, anchored well away from any boardwalks. In terms of spacial arrangement, the boat-house has two floors. The first floor consists of the kitchen, the bedroom, and the bathroom. As for the second floor, it is primarily devoted to several bookcases holding a plethora of books and scrolls, and a private study in the rear. Its anchor is also adjustable.

Though Koumei's most enjoyable hobby is reading, he also partakes in a few other activities, including the consistent cultivation of bonsai trees. The bonsai trees are kept in the private study of his house-boat and are placed along one of the walls. In addition, the opposite side of the private study is set aside for periodic rock balancing. Unsurprising, in consideration of his home, Koumei also relishes brief interludes in which he may fish and recollect on current affairs.
