I doubt it, and I'm a huge Itachi fan. Madara froze Sasuke with a powerful Rinnegan Jutsu. The fact that Sasuke didn't defend himself indicates that the jutsu prevents the victim from using ninjutsu. Therefore I'm not sure what Itachi would have done differently.

I like both Itachi and Madara and there's no way Itachi could have lasted long if Madara was serious which he wasn't against Sasuke, the alliance or the 5 kages. The only healthy Itachi we know of is the 13 year old Itachi so no he wouldn't have done better than Sasuke and Sick Itachi would have his illness, going blind, MS pain side effect which is even worst due to his illness and low stamina. Madara mastered the Sharingan far beyond any other Uchiha and Izuna or Obito would likely come in second and third with Sasuke and Itachi next since we don't know about other Uchiha's stats.

Madara shown to have high stats in speed, taijutsu, kenjutsu, Genjutsu (Madara control Kurama with only 3 Tomoes when Itachi stated he needs MS for that feat), physical strength, durability, endurance, stamina, chakra, battle experiences, ninjutsu power, enjoy fighting (Itachi was a pacifist). EMS Madara is on levels above kage level (where Itachi is at with the 5 kages) along with Hashirama, Tobirama and Izuna.

thats only if everyone else was dead and lobotomised. itachi condemned thousands of people to die in a bloody war because he sw fit to hold back his greatest surprise weapon and waste it on his irrelevant weak brother.
nearly every non battle action itachi took was stupid and needlessly cruel.
and in battle sasuke has far more intelligence feats and battle experience. itachis never had to dig deep and endure a long fight, and need to concoct several different little tactic. sasuke has.
itachi is like nagato in battle intelligence. not stupid but close to featless. sasuke is in the league of minato neji and shikamaru in heat-of battle quick thinking.

kabuto was one of the only people in the world who can negate regen with his control rewrite fuda. one mistake and the fight ends.

1. Getting stabbed in the heart is going to kill you eventually regardless. Itachi would have fallen just like Sasuke.
2. Itachi is very knowledgeable, but I highly doubt he knows anything about Rinbo: Hengoku, which would likely be the way Madara finishes him.
3. I honestly don't think there is anyway Itachi, by himself, could give Madara a scare, prep or not.
