When he Parry's Zabuza's blade with the back end of the scythe meaning in between the blades, which he can easily do the spikes will pertrude far enough to still impale Zabuza if close enough U_U So he can attack and defend at the same time, making him deadly for other weapon users and which is yet another reason why that fight of his was a complete ass pull, as its not physically possible for Kakashi to parry the scythe without taking damage with such a small weapon U_U

Not to mention that this is manga knowledge and Sasuke is mainly a close quarter combatant and one drop of blood gives Hidan the victory whereas Sasuke has to actively decapitate Hidan to win but he won't without full knowledge on Hidan's abilities.
