Plot parallels that could lead to a surpising result

I'm beginning to see a trend within the last few chapters that could lead to a result that 90% of NB would hate... But this is Kishi's manga and not ours so whether or not you like it should not reflect in predictions based on direction and parallels within plot.. That being said.

There is a growing parallel between this situation with Obito/Naruto and the situation in which Obito gave Kakashi one of his sharingan eyes.

How do these two moments parallel?

Obito isolated with Naruto and Sakura = Obito isolated with Kakashi and Rin
Sakura = Rin
Obito has to die in both situations
Naruto is Kakashi's student so Naruto = Kakashi
A smudge on the parallel is Obito is Kakashi's inspiration and Naruto is Obito's inspiration
Both "transfers" would involve the growth and sacrifice of Obito during a war
Both "eye transfers" involve seeing a new future (I bet if this happens Obito will mention the same line about being his eyes with which to see the future)

Given these and other parallels an eye transfer would be such a possible plot development. It is more likely that the bijuu chakra transfer is in itself a parallel since in that case Obito is also giving up a newly acquired powerup to a sucessor/friend due to his impending death. However the presence of Sakura is clearly a parallel to Rin so if she performed an eye transfer from Obito who is probably going to lose control after losing yin Kurama then it would solidify the plot parallel... it could happen with either eye in that case but the Rinnegan eye would make more sense because people will be so angry if Naruto gets Kamui and in reality Rinnegan eye is more important to Madara.

Well it's definetely a possibity but the thing is that it's a very risky choice because you don't know how the readers would react. For instance, if Naruto had both of the rinnegan and could switch them off, it might have become more acceptable BUT having only one rinnegan which he can't use might make him look strange.

Both. I'm proposing that this is a deliberate parallel and that this parallel can be interpreted either as a loose parallel (Obito sacrificing to give Naruto bijuu chakra) or direct parallel (Obito lets Sakura transplant an eye into Naruto)

Let's also not forget that Naruto / Obito / Kakashi are all linked so Naruto pulling off the two different eye look could strengthen the stylistic/plot unity among these three characters.

Its a nice thought but I think you are trying a bit hard.

It really seems like a repeat of when Naruto was born, His parents sacrificing themselves for their son. Obito and Kakashi are doing just that, everything is riding on Naruto recovering. Who knows though maybe it will be a mesh of the two occurrences.

I guess I am assuming Obito's control is temporary, but it seems more than plausible to me that his control is temporary. I mean doesn't he kind of have to die? He has too much power that is key to hand out to others to defeat Madara.

And (unrelated) for all the Sasuke fans who would argue that Naruto can't dojutsu because its Sasuke's domain... Don't think that Sasuke can't get another powerup, and maybe even be third person to awaken Rinnegan. Just don't count out anything just because of fandom. Decide on this whether it would be a cool/interesting plot decision/parallel.

Okay what I'm saying is that maybe instead of thinking about "powerups" on their own think of their relevance to the plot. Take the example of SM. Before Naruto got SM who would've predicted he would have gotten it... it is is Jiraiya's jutsu. But after Jiraiya's death, looking from a plot perspective it seems more obvious that Naruto would get SM because Jiraiya was his sensei and he needed a powerup to compete with Pain. On the same note Sasuke getting random MS powerups would've sounded absurd before his fight with Itachi, but his receiving these powers was reconciled by the plot.

Looking from a plot perspective, in terms of the relationship between characters, can be a guide in terms of what powerups characters will get. Naruto gets the Rasengan and SM. He gets these jutsu because of his relationship with Minato and his relationship/parallel with Jiraiya. Sasuke gets his signature jutsu from his relationship with Itachi and his parallel with Kakashi.

Naruto needs a powerup and there are two relationships/parallels for Kishi to draw on.
1- So6P which he will draw on through bijuu chakra
2- Naruto's parallel with Obito
Now I'm not saying it will inevitably happen but it would be very interesting for Naruto to inherit something from Obito which is uniquely Obito's. Kamui or mismatched eyes are very much a part of Obito's character, and the inheritance would add something to the plot I think.

On the same note its is interesting to think about Sasuke's parallels/ connections to other characters in order to think about his development
1- Tobirama and others have compared him to Madara. Madara awoke the Rinnegan. One way for Sasuke to live up to this comparison would be to follow in Madara's footsteps and awaken the Rinnegan.
2- Orochimaru. Oro is pretty much a powerup handout machine. Oro could connect Sasuke to pretty much any powerup conceivable because of his experiments.

The point is to think about character's parallels/connections through the plot as a guide in order to think about "powerup" developments.
