I am an avid fan of Gaara as he is an intelligent character (unlike his fanboys) who wields an impressive and constant power and uses it cleverly. he hasn't been given any random power ups and in fact continued to grow despite a significant power down. Seeing people talk about his skills and how he might use them with such a lack of thought kinda gives me the urge to tear this thread a new hole...although it already has plenty.
1: You can walk around a wall.
2: His sand detection would be effective and he would be better off hiding in his sand shell, flying up and fighting using his sand to locate his enemy. Amaterasu cannot break through his sand as proven many times but other jutsu might.
3: Gaara is a Kage and in most cases is highly unlikely to get caught out by Genjutsu, especially as he trained to fight against Sasuke, an Uchiha who specialise in Genjutsu.
4: Gaara knows Sasuke can use Genjutsu yet consistently looked him in the eyes whenever they faced off, this only suggests a high level of confidence in the face of Genjutsu and potentially a resistance to it.
