The topic of this discussion is based on a story that I have found. I won't post the video, but here's the .

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — An officer struggling to subdue a woman at the scene of a family dispute acted properly when he hit her in the head and wrestled her to the ground, despite her repeatedly telling officers she was pregnant, the police chief said.

The chaotic Tuesday evening arrest of 21-year-old Brenda Hardaway and her 16-year-old brother was videotaped and posted on YouTube. WHAM-TV identified the person who took the video as the son of Hardaway's neighbor.

The first 45 seconds of the five-minute video show Officer Lucas Krull pinning Hardaway face-down on the hood of a car while trying to cuff her hands behind her back. She resists, repeatedly telling him and other officers that she's pregnant. Krull then punches Hardaway in the back of the head and tosses her to the ground before other officers help him cuff her and others take her brother into custody.

Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard told local media outlets that the officers showed "tremendous restraint" while subduing the teen and Hardaway, whose family said she's six months pregnant. Krull used a distraction technique that officers are taught to employ to disorient someone who's resisting arrest, Sheppard said.

"While the video may cause concern relative to the officer's tactics, I stress that it is important that the incident be viewed in its totality and to withhold judgment until all the facts are known, including those parts of the event that are not shown on the video," he said.

Sheppard said Hardaway had pointed pepper spray at officers checking out a report of a fight involving several family members. That part of the encounter wasn't shown on the video, he said.

Hardaway was taken to Rochester General Hospital, where she was treated and released. Krull was treated for injuries to his nose and elbow.

Hardaway pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges that included assault and resisting arrest. She was being held Thursday in Monroe County Jail on $7,500 bail. A message was left for her public defender.

Her brother was released after being charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Sheppard said the officers' actions during the arrest were being reviewed, as are all uses of force by city police officers. The review will determine whether the officers complied with the department's training and policy, the chief said.

There are many other stories like this, some that many few know about. The stories/videos on get worse. The subject at hand is, is the law as trustworthy as it used to be in the past?

I don't see anything too terrible. If she was truly was pregnant, then yeah that's bad. But given what she was doing I think she was lying.

I just love how people say cops are bad or are pigs because of news stories like this. Everyday, there are cops who do their jobs and arrest people without taking questionable action like this, it's just that the media will report on stories like this more often because hardly any buzz will come from "Officer does what he normally does and is supposed to do." Don't think that all cops are pigs, people.

What was she doing? Not like she was fighting back or anything.

I know that all cops are not bad. Too judge a group as a whole from one's acton is just complete ignorance. But for the Cheif to ok this is just BS imho.

She shouldn't have resisted. If you want to resist arrest, get your ass beat.

If she's resisting arrest and struggling to the extent that he has to knock her the f*ck out, then she may be lying about being pregnant.

I would like to know about what happened before hand. What was this family altercation? Was she involved in it? Was it a physical one?

From what's given in your post I personally don't see anything wrong on the cops end. If she were pregnant and really concerned about the well being of her child, she should've just let herself be handcuffed and placed into the car. If she was resisting arrest, she was resisting arrest, so force can be taken against her. If all that happened to her was a hit on the head and a toss to the ground she's lucky. They didn't tase her, beat her with a club, or worse shoot her. In truth, if she were even apart of the family altercation while being pregnant, she's already beating a dead horse

I don't think she's pregnant, actually.
And if she was, resisting arrest would be counterproductive, why not raise your hands, try to remain calm and not stress yourself and the baby, state your pregnant, and no need to be knocked out.

Most cops are dicks solely because they can't trust anyone, so its better to do what they say than see what they can do to you.

do you really think a 6 months pregnant woman can offer any danger to a police trained man? i really don't think the only way to subdue her was to "punch her in the back of the head and then toss her to the ground".

is the law as trustworthy as it used to be in the past?

considering it was never trustworthy, yes.
