I can't believe I didn't notice it before, but I just realized Obito didn't actually take the staff away from Madara (I did notice that Obito was holding his own version, but I guess I thought it changed after he took it). Forgive me if I'm late to the party on this.
Madara was holding his staff in his left hand--and it's out of frame in the last panel--but I think he must still have his as well (also indicating possible Rikudo vs Rikudo incoming).
Anyway, secondly it looks to me like he formed it from whatever Black Zetsu is made of as it was dripping off of his hand. Which leads me to what I thought was really cool; Black Zetsu falling from Obito at this time is symbolism for Obito becoming free from Madara's will for the first time. Especially right after Madara's "You are me" speech, I feel like this is pretty epic; especially since Madara said directly (Although he meant it in a different context) "You are still the savior."
I think Madara might have been right!
