I can't believe I didn't notice it before, but I just realized Obito didn't actually take the staff away from Madara (I did notice that Obito was holding his own version, but I guess I thought it changed after he took it). Forgive me if I'm late to the party on this.

Madara was holding his staff in his left hand--and it's out of frame in the last panel--but I think he must still have his as well (also indicating possible Rikudo vs Rikudo incoming).

Anyway, secondly it looks to me like he formed it from whatever Black Zetsu is made of as it was dripping off of his hand. Which leads me to what I thought was really cool; Black Zetsu falling from Obito at this time is symbolism for Obito becoming free from Madara's will for the first time. Especially right after Madara's "You are me" speech, I feel like this is pretty epic; especially since Madara said directly (Although he meant it in a different context) "You are still the savior."

I think Madara might have been right!

I already explained this (pointed it out) in a previous thread. BZ is made from the same thing that Madara's staff is made from; it must be an ability from the Rinnegan.

Well ya, he created the staff that looked completely different than Madara's

Black zetsu is will, those black balls that Madara/Obito have are also will.

Obito told naruto that he has the body and will of the sage.

His body turned white and the black stuff represent the will of the individual.

He wasn't being figurative, it was literal...

So it's no suprise he would use Inyouton on black zetsu

Obito didn't use BZ for the staff. He used the black stuff he was using back when he was Juubi Jin. You can see the hole appear in his hand and BZ receded from his hand because Obito forced him off with will power.

I think I may have seen some discussion about the composition of BZ. And I agree with you, it must have to do with rinnegan for sure.

I guess the main point of the thread though is probably the symbolism of BZ as Madara's will and Obito becoming free from it. As well as his potential as the savior.

You can also see that a little amount of BZ disappears from his hand. Meaning that he used it to form that black orb and then used the orb to form the staff.

Thats what I thought at first. But its very possible that Bz is made of the same stuff as the black stuff, and he just used and manipulated black zetsus material.

It is probably more likely that he just created the black stuff himself and forced bz off with willpower.
