What? It doesnt matter who trained him hes still great. Sasuke was already good at fire techs. He created kirin himself. All chidori techs are from his doing not orochimaru. All orochimaru did for him was make him fight 1000 people. And give him a curse seal. Orochimaru didnt do shit lol.

In terms of his actual character?

Can't speak for others but I find him to be one of the better written characters in the manga. He does have mess-ups because quite frankly Kishi just isn't a good writer but his character isn't bad like so many others in this manga.

I find the idea that he's "badly written" because he "flip flops" laughable. People call it unrealistic and it's actually the opposite of that. Research a bit, it's actually very realistic for someone that went through what he did to behave like he did, to be easily swayed. "He should of just followed Itachi's will" - It's more complex then that, Sasuke is his own character, not Itachi's lapdog. It's easy for Itachi, Naruto and even us the reader to judge him and say giving up on revenge is so easy, that's it the right decision. Now look at Sasuke's point of view. It's different, it's not easy. You train your whole life to kill your older brother, everything you believed was based on a lie, it's not so simple for him to just "follow Itachi's will"

I don't want to go on and on but lets just say I find him one of the more interesting characters because he's in the grey area. Throughout the series there's always been so much speculation on his motivations, what will he do, how will he do it? He makes bad decisions, some are morally wrong, some are not, some are ambiguous. He's not a 'bad guy' but he certainly isn't a good guy either and I find that interesting. I think he would make the far more interesting Hokage then just a generic guy in the white-area.

Power wise, obviously he's strong.
