"To keep it a surprise" is not a good enough reason to contradict your story. By that logic TenTen could pull out the rinnegan this wednesday because Kishi wanted to "keep it a surprise."

Forever an asspull. Minato had tons of moments to pull it out. The fact he used it a perfect version as well suggests he is more adept than Naruto in which case makes no sense on Pa's part to say Naruto surpassed those who came before him. Minato even refered to sennin transformation as only Jirayas power. A sage mode user saying such a thing makes no sense. There were more hints to Minato not having it than vice versa.

It was an asspull. He went into SM instantly, but didn't use it against Juubito, even after Tobirama and Naruto explained it was his weakness? Or against who he thought was Madara Uchiha, an extremely powerful and dangerous shinobi? Minato having Sage Mode was so clearly a last minute decision by Kishi.

@Bold: By that logic, Naruto shouldn't have been able to use SM prior to becoming friends with Kurama either. Also, as shown by when Naruto used Sage Mode with Kurama's chakra to overcome Nagato's control via chakra rod, it stands that Senjutsu can be mixed with Kurama's chakra prior to taming him.
