Same as a few previous threads; Which character do you find to be more interesting, appealing, and over all better in a none-combat sense I suppose.

Nagato of Amegakure

Or Kakashi Hatake, The Copy Cat

My opinion is, that Nagato is overall more interesting of a character. While Kakashi has had similar experiences and is a very good character himself, I feel like what Nagato had done under his new personality of "Pein" really puts him over the top. His quest for peace and the hard life style he had, being used as a puppet (rather tragic, imo) and his final moments, which I realize not everyone likes, just get to me and make me think this.

What's your thoughts on these two?

lol, it's hard to decide considering these 2 characters are probably the most well developed characters in Naruto. I lean more towards Kakashi though, Tobi being Obito just adds to his list of traumatic experiences and he's still carrying on fighting the good fight.

Can't chose. Probably Kakashi.
It's a tough call

@Bold: That's why I chose these two. I am hoping to get some interesting dialogue going on in her.e..Eventually. And yeah. Kakashi has a lot going for him in terms of how well written he is, and character development.
Nagato, wish I could've seen him in action in his pre akatsuki days
Yeah, it would of been cool.

Kakashi has a weak -helpless -potentially strong - tragic -cant catch a break type of persona .
Nagato has a strong- manipulated- unlucky- mentally fragile type of person. hmm

about equal I think, but Kakashi has more mystery and uncertainty surrounding his life possibly.

Nicely said. Yeah, as I said to another user. The main reason I picked these two were because they're rather close when it comes to characterization and how well done they are.

I have no idea how people can suggest that Kakashi is a decently developed character. His development is no better than Naruto's. Nagato on the other hand was one of the high notes of this ill-horrendously conceived manga. The only thing that became his fall was the writer himself and that laughably poor book reference.

My vote goes to Nagato - he deserves it.

Normally I would put Kakashi, but the hype is making his interest lagging for me personally.

I think Nagato, before he met Obito or pein

I don't see how Kakashi a badly written character :l.... Who would be a better person, in Nagato's stead, then?

Pein was fantastic
Do pains count? If so Nagato wins by a landslide

if not i find Nagato more interesting i suppose
I am counting Nagato and Pein as all one person. By the end of the day, who would you think is more interesting?

You are more than welcome to debate with me on this. I am a Literature and Arts student anyway, and it's my forte to dissect characters, plot-lines, and general themes of Novels, Poems, Dramas etc.

Post yours and I'll counter. How DO you understand that Kakashi is a good character, purely based on characterization of course?
I was more or less hoping to be more of an observing and having limited participation in any conversation. I don't exactly have time on my side to begin to write too much.

But, to be short and post some points I'd say that Kakashi's character is pretty well done based on the prior experiences he had faced (The death of practically his whole team) and how we can see that being a driving factor, even before learning of this. In Part 1 we can see the influences that Obito's death had on Kakashi.
