That would be ridiculous. He was a member of the Akatsuki, he controlled a Mizukage he launched a terrorist attack on Konoha by releasing Kurama, he basically caused Minato's death, he killed a fodder Aburame and a fodder Yamanaka, he waged a world war, and he committed a mass genocide with the Shinjuu. That would be a pretty weird way to end things

With the way things are happening in this manga who knows who will become Hokage or if they'll even pick one.

Highly doubt it will be Obito though. As someone stated he may go out like Nagato did with one last heroic move.

P.S. I am hoping for the latter of the two choices.

I doubt he will be Hokage but he will pull a Hokage like move. He already has the cards. He still has his jinchuriki powers which confirms that jinchuriki keep their traits even if they lose their Bijuu. And I think it is ironic that Obito tried to kill Naruto when he was born and now he is in a position to save him and thus give the world back their hope in peace.
