I've been a Madara cosplayer/roleplayer for a long time, I know how he thinks.

If Izuna objected this, Madara would be hesitant to proceed.

I'm betting we will get a Madara flashback. And that will sound the beginning of his end. Like it happens with most characters in the series:
Sasori gets a flashback --> dies
Deidara gets a flashback --> dies
Kisame gets a flashback --> dies
Danzo gets a flashback --> dies
Jiraya gets a flashback --> dies
and so on...
