Nah, he said that killing Esdeath isn't his objective. He just thinks it would be interesting. Unless I missed a panel.​

I think you miss read it, she definitely is his objective.

Yet he got fodderized by Akame and that same Akame was not supposed to go after Ogre since he was too much of a threat. BTW, was Ogre a Captain?

Akame is far above Ogre. I suppose they weren't willing to risk it by going against someone who is supposed to be a Captain level soldier.​

He could've just conquered the empire when Shura was still travelling and Esdeath was in the North...

I think he was drunk and already wounded before that when Tatsumi landed a supposedly finishing blow on him.

Actually , didn't Tatumi wanted that mission to prove himself ? or Najenda gave him that as a first mission .
