Minato puts an FTG mark on Orochimaru. Minato then sends Orochimaru into the FTG Barrier, the same one that caught those TBBs and sent them away. However, instead of choosing to send Orochimaru to a mark on the outside, Minato sends Orochimaru to the mark that is already on Orochimaru. This way, Orochimaru never escapes the FTG Barrier and is stuck in a loop.

True. Hiruzen and Anko also made it clear that Minato is stronger than oro.

Im sure it wasnt orochimaru..based on the Manga, Hiruzen's 1st choice was oro, but after some thought, he decided Minato, so in a way u are right, he did pick Oro over anyone else at first due to his weakness, but after accepting reality, he choose Minato because Minato was the one who carried his will, not Oro.

It was only due to Hiruzen's biased thinking, ignoring orochimaru's twisted nature just cuz he was his student, and overlooking minato.

During the invasion Minato was a Hokage. When Hiruzen found out about Oro's experiments, Minato wasn't a Hokage yet and that was when Orochimaru left the village. It's obvious he wasn't there.
