If people need to use plot as an excuse for something, maybe they should use for.. I don't know, the entire story? It was PNJ that Deidara even fought Sasuke, it was PNJ that Sasuke had the elemental advantage, it was PNJ that Deidara needed help from Obito, etc.

He don't have to say that on his own,we can assume that just by looking at Sasuke's condition at that time.
He can't even stand up on his own and can't keep his sharingan means that he has no chakra left especially he don't have enough chakra to summon manga which takes considerable amount of chakra from the user.

Sasuke EARNED that victory and yes it was a victory, not a draw. If Sasuke had been taken out by the blast it would of been a draw. It was an awesome fight. Sasuke had the elemental advantage however he also had disadvantages which people always tend to ignore. Not only did Deidara have Tobi's help but he was also trying to kill Sasuke while Sasuke himself was not trying to kill Deidara. That's a huge game changer as Sasuke's moveset is more aligned to kill then to capture.

As for the result? Getting mad enough and thus being pushed to suicide is even more humiliating then flat out losing. Him escaping from the blast is a stretch but not impossible. He said he had other Jutsu so it didn't come out of nowhere, and he could of used Orochimaru's Chakra for all we know or maybe he had just enough of his own Chakra to Summon Manda. People tend to forget that he has quite powerful chakra.

Sasuke was empty, sharingan deactivated, couldn't maintain chidori, couldn't stand...


If and only if with Sasuke's all wits and abilities, Deidara makes a small bomb and throw at him...

Yet, Sasuke managed to summon something like Manda. And Deidara ,almost a victor self-detonates him... Nothing can be deduced ex. that it's plot...
