From what I remember when fanboys were bragging about this before Maddy got even more haxxed, the general consensus was that he pulled it out of orbit and slammed it down.

What if it was creation of all things?

He had both of his eyes, why wouldn't he be able to do it?

He even used his Susanoo to help summon it if I remember the panel right, so it seems it is linked to EMS, which as we all know is a mutation of Rinnegan, or whatever the son had

It's a possibility, but why create a meteor and not some flat rock that'll cover the battlefield.

In terms of holy **** it's a god theres no point fighting him, summoning two giant meteors achieves that effect much better than a flat rock that they wouldn't recognize. (Pure speculation)

I think it was a meteor, and a massive Bansho Tennin pulled it out of orbit. It COULD have been "creation of all things", but you think Kishimoto would reveal that technique with something more exciting (like creating the Zetsu, or the Juubi spawn, etc). Kishi would want the thing created to leave no ambiguity regarding its origins; the fact that we can only speculate whether or not Madara created the meteor leads me to believe that, as far as Kishi's intent is concerned, he did not.

Perhaps it was a fragment of the Moon, pulled off via Chibaku Tensei, and then dragged to Earth using Bansho Tennin. That would at least explain where Madara even found a meteor to begin with; the Rinnegan is linked (somewhat) to the Moon (unlocking the Rinnegan instantly allowed Madara to summon the Gedo Mazou from the Moon, despite Madara never coming into contact with either).

He did unseal the Gedo Statue of Outer Path which was sealed in the moon and brought it down to earth. Therefore, to believe he could summon meteors from space is indeed possible.

I know the anime isn't the best place to look for answers like this but it's clear what happens in the Anime. You can see the second meteor 'poof' into existence as if it was summoned.

it didn't just "poof" into existance, while oonoki was stopping the first one madara was shown looking up and smiling much meant there where two to begin with
