I could care less about power if i can relate to them in experience plus their personality adds to their likability to me

Power is the main necessity when it comes to favorites. Personality? Back-story? Pointless garbage and sad stories aren't worth looking into, if the character lacks the [power to achieve their goals then they're nothing but fodder : Fact. People will go on about how power doesn't mean anything when in reality it does 97% of the time.Love isn't a necessity power is the necassityto make things happen, nothing happens with power nothing progesses without power; without power naruto would've ended in part 1 episode 1.
I will quote this because you might erease it...again.

I don't really care about power because what's important to me is if a character is cool and interesting.

it doesn't, their power/level is like one of their many traits.

a character with a dull personality can have all the power in the world and he/she will still be boring to watch, while a well written badass character with an awesome/unique back story/personality will always make the best fights and will always keep you coming back for more.

Yeah I liked those too from the start though other people almost ruined hinata as a character for me namely the crazy hinata fans that just hate sakura they tried to force me to like hinata only which did the opposite at the time though since then I've began to like her again

Power is an added bonus, but in reality we always like the gangsta ass characters. the more boss they are the more we like them. Itachi proves this

Power levels have never mattered to me in any fiction, but my reasons for liking characters are usually really random (ponytails!).

Also, I tend to like side characters more than main ones. I can't really explain it, but when I see a character too often, even when it's the one I like, they get old, like a song on the radio that is played over and over again. If I eat something I like too often I get tired of it quickly, it's probably the same with characters.

My favorites are the sannin since part 1 when they were too 5, now they're far from it but they're still my favorite, therefore i can safely say i don't care about their feats/power ups (although its always nice to see your favorites shine).
I absolutely liked their concept, personalities, backstories, design, everything. Their abilities just compliment their theme even more.

If a character is weak, they usually have a tiny role in the manga which effects my view of them.

Power doesn't mean shit to me. It's all about personality, really.

My favourite character overall, as many would probably know, is Might Gai. Though not for is strength, but more for his personality and actual coolness. Tbh, I haven't really seen his character type before being the hotblooded, brute with internal youth at an old age. I find his personality to be more of an attraction because it fits well with his abilities. Though when it comes to people comparing strengths and calling him a fodder, that's when I have to put it out there that he IS infact, a Solo God but is underestimated and disliked not for is abilities, but his personality mostly.

Another few faves I like not for their strength, but their characteristics:
- Shikamaru: Second favourite character in the series because of his attitude towards life. Kind of mirrors me, being lazy (at first) but having a lot of potential when the time is right. Yes he is weak, but I'm pretty sure he can take on some of your faves with some help.
- Rock Lee: The way his overall character is, being the only shinobi in the whole of NV not able to use Ninjutsu or Genjutsu and relies only on Taijutsu. That's pretty sick seeing as he's even able to keep up/surpasses others on terms of strength as well. Highly underrated and needed more screentime than anyone else in the series. The bonus? The amount of swagger all his taijutsu fights have.
- Neji: Neji is pretty much the most coolest character in the series since he seems like the most mature shinobi which fits well with his abilities also. The whole theme with him being the most elite shinobi of his generation and then becoming jounin made me see that Neji kind of had the potential to fit in more with the storyline, perhaps calling bullshit on Naruto about the whole "Fate" thing and start a rivalry again until he realises that people actually DO choose their own fate -cue suiciding himself for lame hinata and naruto-
- Genma: Now you can pretty much see where I'm going with this, Genma isn't known for any feats yet some people like him because of the way he's portrayed as a laid back shinobi with a toothpick. Way more cooler than Kakashi. He should've at least got more screentime or even be introduced as a Sensei rather than a back up Jounin.
- Itachi: Yes I am an Itachi fan, yes I know he's strong, no I don't want to join your Itachi wank cult. I like Itachi because he's the lone wolf type. I love characters that take matters into their own hands and become lone wolves. I've always been a fangirl* for these types. The aloof older brother, knows hes strong yet he's a pacifist, Has more info than anyone else, Shrouded in mystery, Stomach curdling background and doesn't blame anyone for it and Would rather clean up the fight as quick as possible without leaving any mess. What's not to like about Itachi? Oh yeah, the amount of fanboys clinging onto his pubes for dear life.

Characters like Madara, Naruto and Sasuke are alright, but it's their personality and abilities that put me off. Sasuke being told how to deal with his past by Kakashi only to do the exact opposite pissed me off. He knows more and pretty much lost just as much as him (His only family, his sensei, his best friend (can be considered since he never had friends) and then a girl who he was suppose to protect killed herself with his hand) yet you think he's talking smack. Starts crying over this and that. Naruto with the whole "I'LL CHANGE YOUR LIFESTYLE" thing is getting boring and annoying and to top it off he has a whole bundle of transformations which is cliche and annoying. Madara's bi-polar personality is just annoying as well.
