People say that they don't want Naruto or Sasuke to get rinnegan because it has been over used. The statement that it has been overused is the biggest lie ever!

1. Only 4 people have had access to it and we haven't even seen one of those people (Hagoromo) in action. Out of those 4 only 2 of them actually awakened it.

2. Out of the 3 people that we have seen in action, only one person (Nagato) has actually treated it as a power instead of a stupid contact lens. Only Nagato actually used the more offensive paths as well as the supplementary/defensively ones and the gedou mazou. Madara and Obito (especially Obito) acted like the eye was just for show! All Obito ever used was the outer path (which consists of 6 paths of pain, chakara chains, black rods and rinnei tensei) and the mazou. The outer path is merely a supplementary path. Madara is a little better than Obito. He throws in a little Deva path every now and then (like with the meteors, with rimbo hengoku and with what he just did to Sasuke), but he mainly only used preta path and outer path (black rods) before recent chapters. Those are once again, supplementary techniques! Madara also uses the mazou.

"What's your point?", you may ask. My point is: Sticking to supplementary jutsus is nowhere near using the full power of the rinnegan! The rinnegan is said to allow the user to use all 5 elements, yet we haven't seen Madara or Obito do anything clever like making volcanoes grow out of the ground and erupt, or freezing their opponents in blocks of ice using wind style and water style. We haven't seen Madara or Obito use any epic yin yang rinnegan jutsus like creation of all things to instantly create a miniature sun on the battle field and scorch everyone to death! Heck, we haven't even seen the full power of some of the paths that we have seen. Take the Deva path for instance. The theory of relativity dictates (and this has been proven) that gravity is actually the curvature of space time and that gravitational fields actually slow down time in their frames of reference. Time stops the event horizons of black holes. This means that rinnegan users should be able to control and stop time, create black holes, warp space, and even grind/crush their opponents' bones with gravitational tidal forces.

They should even be able to control weight! Have we seen any of this though? No!! What about the other paths? We have not even seen asura path or animal path since Nagato! You can not tell me that homing missiles and lasers would have not been useful for Madara and Obito!

Seriously! Rinnegan users should be able to pull out science books and their own imaginations and do whatever comes to mind! Has anyone done that though? No!!!!

For Sasuke fans: You do realize that if Sasuke got rinnegan and used Deva path (or if anyone used Deva path for that matter) or any other offensive path, it would almost be a guaranteed victory against Naruto! I hope I'm not the only one who has noticed this, but: Naruto sucks against the offensive power of the rinnegan! Who had Naruto pinned down on the ground and basically captured had it not been for Hinata? It was Deva path! What jutsus was Nagato using when he almost killed two top tier jinchuurikis at the same time? It was Deva path when he pushed Naruto into the clutches of his invisible animal path summon. It was human path that he was using to pull out Naruto's soul! It was asura path that he was using when he was about to blast Bee's head off! What path was used to solo Naruto and 9 bijuus at once? It was Deva path (Rimbo Hengoku is most likely Deva). What path was used to solo Sasuke in a second with his own freaking sword?! It was Deva path!

These offensive paths clearly grant immense power, but do Madara and Obito care about that? No (until recently in Madara's case)! You can not over use something that you are not using to its full potential! I would barely call Madara and Obito's usage of the rinnegan (before recently) even using the eye! As I said before, it just acted as a contact lens. Outer path is great, but it pales in comparison to what the rinnegan is truly capable of!

In order to over use something, you must actually use it to begin with! It is not enough to just have the eye! Everyone in the world could have shot guns, but the guns would not be over used if only one person actually shot stuff with it (and everyone else just occasionally used it to scratch their backs or something like that).

Conclusion: Until somebody starts actually using the freaking eye and stops spamming outer path and other supplementary crap, the rinnegan is not being over used and it is therefore still unique! Also, the elder son's eye is most likely weaker than the rinnegan since the sage's power was split between the yin and the yang. That eye came after the rinnegan, not the other way around!

It's overused because it's supposed to be the greatest, most rare KKG and Doujutsu in existence, and so far three main villains have used it in some form.

It's similar to the fact that Itachi looked like a badass in Part 1 because he used the MS, an ability we didn't know anything about and that only 2 people at the time had ever acquired. That made him unique. But then we learned that 7 people had it, so it became mainstream and uncool.

Four people is too much, it was supposed to be the rarest of Dojutsu, and of godly status, now people can counter it and use it more than main character byakugan users and sharingan users, there is nothing mysterious and unique about it anymore.

Correct me if I'm wrong but your assertion would suggest that you don't mind someone new getting the rinnegan (sasuke for example) because they would use it to it's full extent therefore making their experience new and fresh?

Problem being that the manga is at it's end, anyone that awakens the rinnegan at this point will not have time to master it. Nagato to years to learn all element types and master the paths. Experience is everything with the rinnegan and madara proved that showing an even further mastery of the rinnegan.

People argue that Nagato was able to use the rinnegan with no experience, but for the most part he only ever summoned the gedo in rage or used some unknown technique likely shinra tensei. Someone randomly throwing out techniques for the first time in a fit of rage isn't goin to win against someone that is a master of the very same techniques.

It's also not a good outcome for sasuke, he would lack experience in the rinnegan, having to combat naruto who is basically the worlds authority on fighting rinnegan users. I just don't see the advantage if that, especially since naruto has grown since he beat pain.

IMO the rinnegan isn't overdone it's just not necessary at this point. Barring total ass pulls it isn't even that useful given the current state of battle.

You say that there is nothing unique about it, but you forget that we haven't seen all of its powers. People can counter some of the stuff that they've seen, but we haven't seen it all. Don't forget my point about relativity. Don't forget about the possibility of quantum mechanical jutsus like exciting various particle fields. Don't forget about creation of all things (which we have not seen in action. That stuff is unique and hasn't been seen. Therefore, the ninjas wouldn't have counters for them. These jutsus would be new and mysterious.
