I am in the process of writing my own manga... comic book... well, its a series that follows the same format. I want some honest opinions of the topic, and basic story in general, so that I don't waste my time on a story that no one would like. Also, I would like to hear people's opinions on whether I should try to make this a comic book or manga series. The bare-bones of the story is as follows:
Trinity Hall is an average guy, who works an average job, in an average city... bottom line is that everything about him is average. His only surviving family is his grandmother, but he also has a fiancee. He was raised by his grandparents, and looked up to his grandfather as his role model.
One night, while he is at home working on some reports for work, his fiancee decides to pay Grandma a visit, since he is too busy. The next morning, he wakes to find that she never returned. Upon investigation, he discovers his grandmother's corpse laying over a trunk in the attic. Beside her body, he finds a note that his Grandma wrote in her final moments telling him that it was a demon that attacked her, the demon kidnapped his fiancee, and the only way to defeat the demon is by using the sword that is in the trunk that she is laying over.
He finds the demon's lair, challenges the demon for his fiancee, and wins. Afterward, he finds his fiancee strapped to a hospital bed of sorts, and she looks almost dead. She tells him that the demon had impregnated her, and delivering the baby had put her in that condition. Long story short, she dies and he agrees to raise the half-human, half-demon child.
Shortly after, he is contacted by someone who tells him that the sword he possesses is one of the seven weapons of the heavens. They are the only weapons in the world that can harm demons or angels. He then meets the other owners of the weapons, who act as a demon slaying team, and they agree to train him and the child.
This is where I will stop, because is as far as I can go and my story be universal to manga and comic books. If I decide that I want it to be a manga, the guy will continue with the team, he will battle more powerful enemies, and he will develop amazing skills and techniques. If I develop the story as a comic book, he will leave the team after training, protect souls from demons trying to steal them, and the kid would eventually become his side kick.
What do you guys think?
Is there anything I should add? Take out?
Is this a good story to run with? Should I change it completely?
Comic book route? Manga route?
Any and all opinions/criticisms/praises are welcomed and encouraged!
