Nah there's enough previously set-up elements to make this work. Orochimaru....Being surrounded by every Senju DNA user alive today...Hashirama's gift (his DNA is usually given out like freebies anyway) there's Jugo there...It'd be silly to count it as impossible IMO.

He's past Vengeance and there's a lot more going with his character now- he's doing a Zuko in realising he's got more to do in this world and he's seeing the bigger picture, understanding the concept of a village, the Senju and the Uchiha and the concept of a ninja.
