A lot of us don't keep up with the Manga over one character despite him being a main character, and with the facts you stated earlier is one of the reasons Naruto himself is one of the most boring characters in the series, we can only hope for Naruto himself that Kishi won't make this series such a cliche in the end, right?

Sasuke was popular, said many times to be a prodigy, had friends and a village that cared for him, but he still threw everything away to kill a brother that loved him in the end. I could go on ranting ya know that right?

I don't, I detest his character and design, so overdone it's sickening, of course he over came the hatred he is after all the boring predictable Hero, like all of them. Popularity isn't meaningful at all why should that fill the gap of losing your family. If my family was murdered in cold blood by my own brother who I loved dearly I wouldn't give a shit about popularity it's meaningless. Sasuke chose an alternate and more interesting route than Naruto.

Sasuke has too many issues he has to deal with before he is a favorite for me. It's all in opinion though.
