Chidori pierced it as a result of Elemental advantage. Raiton>>Doton and especially at chidoris power.

Gai only slpped a small portion of sand used to finish off Lee, no way is he slapping away a tsunami with way more density and killing intent. Furthermore that attack was an offensive tactic, One does not slap away sand shield.

- well Tsuande cracked the ground with one finger, so that doesn't really matter. Her punch would completely obliterate part1 Gaara's sand shield.
