I do not agree with you OP, for once. Since Hiruzen has been confirmed as the strongest of all he's pretty much unbeatable and doesn't need any more power-up. All he needs to do is go back into his prime, so that he's the rival of Rikudo Sennin again bearing the title of "God's". (obviously Hiruzen is stronger but I do not want to destroy Rikudo Sennin fanboys, because mangaphax clearly states Hiruzen being the strongest)

Some might make fun of monkey sage mode but I honestly don't see why not? Hiruzen was called god of shinobi who mastered every jutsu in konoha. So why wouldn't he have sage mode? The sannin are capable and it wouldn't make sense for him to not have it.
